The art of seeing light through the cracks.
Kintsugi is the Japanese art that allows broken china to be imbued with new life.
In 2017 after the Nunns Fire destroyed my home and studio along with so many others,
I searched for a way to use the broken bits of sentimental china I had saved from the ashes of my home.
Taking a workshop in the traditional practice of Kintsugi, I discovered the perfect way to create a new life for my treasured bits of china. I adapted this technique to create original jewelry with my shards of china and beautiful bits of china I have recently discovered. This was the perfect way to honor the sentiment behind the sorrow and help with my healing.
Lightweight and unique, each piece of jewelry is created with a shard of precious china that I wrap in traditional Japanese Tree Resin mixed with a lovely mica powder. My earwires are handcrafted and each pendant is graced with an Italian chain in either sterling silver of gold filled.
